Lemongrass, Ginger, Turmeric and Black Pepper Tea

Ingredients
  • 2 lemongrass stalks washed
  • 2 inch piece of ginger washed, peeled and sliced
  • 2 inch piece of turmeric washed, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp whole black pepper slightly crushed
  • 1 litre filtered water
Instructions
  1. Using the flat part of the knife, smash the lemongrass to release its fragrance, then cut in 5cm pieces, include the leaves (you can save leaves from other recipes that only call for the white part for this recipe too)
  2. Peel and the ginger and turmeric
  3. Add to saucepan with water
  4. Bring to boil then lower to a simmer for at least 10 minutes for a light tasting tea
  5. Or simmer for 30 minutes for a stronger dark tea
  6. Try not to use any sweetener if you can, or to start add a little honey and gradually reduce until none is needed
  7. Refrigerate any leftover tea and enjoy over some ice, or keep it in the saucepan and reheat when needed
  8. You can also add more water and re-brew the ingredients twice
