One Ingredient Facial Brightening Mask
Since going mosty paleo and being much more aware of what food I was putting into my body, I realised I should also look at what I am putting on my skin. The skin is the largest organ in the human body and it absorbs what you put on it, so it makes sense that you should try and only put stuff on your skin that you could eat or at least consume safely. This is something that took me a little longer to commit to as it was too convenient to reach out for my favourite tube of cream or mask.

Since switching to real ingredients for my beauty and skin care routine I have noticed a big difference and improvement (along with a good diet). I have sensitive combination skin and always found it tricky to get the right balance for my oily T zone and my dry flaky cheeks. One of my favourite ingredients to put on my face is banana. I always find I’ve got a couple of bananas that have reached that too ripe point to be eaten on it’s own and either needs to be baked or frozen. These are the perfect ones to use for your face.
Banana’s contain various vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants that are brilliant for skin health when placed directly on the skin. All you need to do is mash up about a 2cm slice of ripe banana, mash and apply to your face, neck and chest. The vitamin A and C in bananas work as a great moisturiser and immediately brightens up dull, dry skin. It can also help with skin pigmentation (that seems to be an issue over here in Vietnam with the humidity and sun).
At first, it seemed quite bothersome having to make my own facial products but I found switching one product at a time for a natural alternative easier than switching my whole bathroom cabinet all at once. This one ingredient facial brightening mask is simple and a great introduction to switching over your chemical filled facial products. A great benefit to your health and wallet π
