Roasted Chilli and Turmeric Brussel Sprouts
I have been trying to add more turmeric to our dishes (due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties amongst so many otherย benefits) and thought I would try to spice up some brussel sprouts and boy this combination tasted so good! Roasted in the oven with some ghee, it makes the perfect side veggie dish.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 40 mins
Serves 4 as a side dish
You will need:
- 500gm Brussel Sprouts
- 1 large piece of fresh turmeric (about 8cm long) or 1 tsp powdered turmeric
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (or adjust to desired heat)
- 1 tsp sea salt
Method:
- Preheat the oven (with top element on) to 225c
- Wash, trim and halve the brussel sprouts
- Place in a large baking tray
- Peel and thinly slice the turmeric or sprinkle powdered turmeric over the brussel sprouts
- Sprinkle the cayenne pepper and salt
- Give the tray a good shake / stir around
- Place small dollops of the ghee around the tray
- Place in the oven for 20 mins
- Check and stir the brussel sprouts around, and set the timer for another 10 mins
- Check and stir the brussel sprouts again, they should be browing really nicely
- Adjust the remaining time if necessary or set the timer for another 10 mins and ensure they do not burn!
- Serve hot or cold
